Zen Meditation
Like many other forms of meditation, Zen meditation is practiced in order to calm the body and the mind, and to gain insight into the nature of existence. Many people practice this style of meditation today as they search for peace of mind.
When it was first introduced, the term "Zen" meditation referred to a specific style of seated meditation. Today, people perform this style of meditation in a variety of different positions, even walking. Practitioners focus on posture, and learn how to concentrate with a great deal of intention. This can be quite difficult without some direction.
At the Foundation of Human Understanding, we appreciate all types of meditation but we practice and teach the "Be Still and Know" meditation. Rather than focusing so much on posture and position, we focus on observation and anti-hypnotic influence. We believe that to forgive and overcome the obstacles in your life, you need to rise above the anger and negative thoughts clouding your mind. Our methods help you do this by changing the way you react to stressors. Instead of doubt and worry, we can help you calmly observe a situation and remove yourself from the destructive influence of negative thoughts.
The "Be Still and Know" meditation works to reduce stress and anxiety in your life. Some Eastern meditation techniques simply repress anger.
